Mercer County is located in the heart of central Kentucky. The lifestyle in our area is considered that of Southern hospitality. It is one of the most unique areas of Kentucky and is located in the Golden Triangle of the state with easy access to Lexington, Louisville and Cincinnati. Cities included are Harrodsburg, Burgin and Salvisa. This area is rich with history and historical ties dating back to James Harrod and Daniel Boone and the first European settlers in the area. There is truly something for everyone here. Historical venues like Fort Harrod State Park, Shaker Village, and Lake Herrington offer an amazing experience for young and old. Downtown Harrodsburg is also something you don't want to miss. The Main Street area is full with lots of local shops, businesses, microbreweries and restaurants!

People have been loving Harrodsburg for almost 250 years! Harrodsburg, then Harrodstown, was the first settlement west of the Allegheny Mountains. Harrodsburg is home to Fort Harrod State Park which is conveniently located on College Street. The fort includes a replica of the original fort as well as the log cabin where President Lincoln's parents were married. Park director David Colman refers to the park as ̈ An oasis in the midst of urbanization. ̈ The frequent historical reenactments and restorations make Fort Harrod truly feel like a walk back in time.
Education is forever valued in Harrodsburg. There are two public school systems as well as The Trailblazer Early College and Career Academy. Trailblazer Academy prepares students for today's world by offering relevant and meaningful learning experiences. By connecting the high school experience to business and community partners, the academy model aligns education and workforce development needs to better prepare students for post-secondary education and career success. Harrodsburg is also home to Campbellsville University ́s Conover Education Center. The Conover Education Center offers High school dual credit classes, technology and certificate programs as well as Liberal Arts degrees and on-line classes. You can obtain a two, four or Master's degree from The Conover Education Center. They also offer both cosmetology and Barbering school and Welding HVAC and soon Chiropractic.! Harrodsburg is in a convenient location to three post secondary institutions within 10 miles and 11 more within a 45 minute drive.
